Child Dedication

WHEN: 9:00 AM & 10:30 AM During Services

WHERE: Christ's Church of the Valley - Royersford, PA

Child Dedication gives parents the opportunity to make a public declaration to raise their children in a Christian home so that when they’re given a chance to know God and establish a personal relationship with Jesus, they’re able to make this decision. In doing this, parents also invite the church family to support them.

At least one parent must be baptized by immersion to participate in Child Dedication. If parents haven’t been baptized, please find more information about baptism HERE.

FAQs

  • As parents, it means that you are doing everything you can to raise your child in an environment that reflects God’s love. You are praying for and with your children, reading the Bible with them, going to church as a family, instructing them in the way of the Lord, setting a godly example, and having conversations about what they’re learning. You are doing all of this to lead them in a way that when they’re ready to make the decision on their own, they want to follow and believe in God.

“Dedication is a public commitment you make before God, family, and friends. The dedication service provides you with an opportunity to express publicly your desire to raise your child God’s way, so your child will develop a desire to love God and love others.

  • There is not a specific age that we cut this off. However, once a child is capable of making a personal spiritual decision of baptism, they should not be dedicated.

  • Scripture provides evidence that Baptism follows an individual’s decision to trust Christ alone for salvation (Acts 2:41, 8:12, and 10:47–48). And the New Testament records the baptisms of adult believers only. In the Bible, we find parents bringing their children to Jesus. He held them, prayed for them, and told us to welcome them. But He did not baptize them and He did not tell anyone else to baptize them. We believe Baptism is for those who have made a personal decision to trust Christ alone for their salvation, once they have the maturity and ability to understand what that means.
