Mark Burton (1961-2023)

We are heartbroken to announce the death of Mark Burton, 61, of Phoenixville, PA. Mark was born on May 15, 1961 and passed peacefully from this life on April 27, 2023. He is survived by his wife Alison Dodge Burton, daughter Karly (23), and son Edward (Teddy) (20). He predeceased his mother of 93 years, Mrs. Anne Burton of Carshalton England, and his sisters, Mary Jenkins and Donna Fowler, also of England. Mark was a vibrant, caring man, beloved by all who knew him. A man of deep faith, a family man, a loyal friend, a larger than life personality who loved to put people at ease and make them laugh. Mark reinvented himself many times in different industries. He led WWII veterans back to Europe and the Pacific with Galaxy Tours, he had a broad knowledge of WWII history and spoke several languages. He also led Christians on pilgrimages to the Holy Lands with Friendly Planet Travel, a company he shared with wife Alison. Mark moved into advertising and marketing at Bodine Marketing Group and his own Blurhino. He sold industrial lighting and for the past 12 years has been a mortgage loan originator with AFN. In each of these fields, he made it a priority to help others. He gave people the gift of a new life working with them on purchasing a new home and, often their first one.

Mark served at Christ’s Church of the Valley in Royersford with the children's ministries for 18 years. He loved sharing the Bible as a leader to the 4th and 5th grade and as a character in the Church Kids’ Camp every summer. Mark adored his children and never missed one of their many sports games. His sideline cheering was especially memorable with his British accent ringing with pride. Mark was a loving husband to Alison for 26 years, having passed the day after their anniversary. They shared a passion for travel and a deep love for their children. There will be a huge void left by Mark’s absence.

He will be celebrated on May 13 at 11:00 am at Christ’s Church of the Valley, 1560 Yeager Rd. Royersford, PA. Calling hours will precede the service, beginning at 9:00 AM. All are welcome.
